Somewhere in the world
A child is about to wake
Only to die of hunger
My heart breaks
In the middle of a city
A lone dark figure shakes
No place to call their home
My heart breaks
A feline & her kittens
Starving in some crates
Abandoned by a monster
My heart breaks
A funeral's in procession
I see the loved ones' face
Memories fill my conscience
My heart breaks

Spiral dance, twin suns -
There is a sparrow singing stacatto shadowed
In yellow shapes of light splayed
In a triangle puzzle
On the cracked and peeling paint.
Ethereal and dream, my heart heavy with
The chains of action - each act,
binding me further to itself,
to act again and again.
Much evil have I done in my life.
Fist clenched cruelly, crying "Fate be damned,"
Revealing rage silently seething,
Nothing but an animal,
Wearing the smile of civility.
Rumble sigh of the tiger restless
Prowling circular in the iron cage,
Built with my loss and tears,
And locked with bitter teeth.
A pitched whine buzzsaw screaming
Slicing bleached concrete,
Moving forward, the human engine,
Planting fiber-optics.
The sparrow flees -
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair . . .
There is a sparrow singing stacatto shadowed
In yellow shapes of light splayed
Across the hope held tightly
In my dreams walking slowly.
White children of the blue sky, kindred to
Bright offspring in the dark night
Meeting at dawn and dusk,
Moon and Sun ever paired.

My personal favourite...
he built a house
a domicile of despair
rooms of gloom,
walls of weaknesses,
awashed in anxiety.
fall through
doors of doom
silently slammed shut.
he walked in it,
floors of fear,
ceilings of coldness.
step through
long passages of lonely passion
lit by flickering flames of fury
dimmed and darkened by shades of sadness
he will not leave
these halls of horrors,
painted with pain
his dark domicile
look through
widening windows of worry
over muted moats of madness
over graceless gates of guilt
onto faraway pastures of bright hope.

For my kor
the search for that somebody
whom I seen but once
and only those eyes
but the jolt of electricity
it was enough to stun me
and I didn't dare to approach
sadly I was too shy to speak
when I knew that somebody was special
when I knew that somebody should be mine
when I knew that I shouldn't have left
when I knew that I wanted only that somebody
it was too late.
I never saw that somebody again.

I walk, lifting dark
gloom from shady corners,
spreading spectra into
fading life, with rainbows
to the heart, warming
with flames of cobalt
glory, to cast upon
deathly doom the grace
of hope and light -
stark white zooming
paths across leaden souls,
to tread faithful into
the hazy future;
into the past; into
the lost darkness
of present; and we
will find
our way out.

Flitting pretty flowers,
rainbow colours in the wind,
for a moment,
hanging in the air
Brought happiness and joy,
in a passing moment,
like an april shower,
never to return again
Some caught, some fly on,
people catching
their own pretty flower,
when missed will never return,
'til the next april shower.

For Lark
I watched you at the piano
Your fingers flew across the ivory keys
And your eyes were bright with emotion
From where I stood
A hand upon the quivering ebony
The music filled the whole hall
And filled my heart
There was no need for words
You were silent
And so was I
You spoke through your music
And I, through the song in my head
And I watched you at the piano
Watched your flying fingers
Watched your face
And you were the happiest girl in the world
And the most beautiful

there was a crack
in the middle of a street
then there was another
and the other it did meet
someone fell in
and wasn't seen again
he tried to call for help
but he called in vain
then it vanished suddenly
that crack in the ground
no one noticed that lost soul
and neither was he found

I lay awake
until dawnbreak
with you upon my mind.
I search for words
and then for courage,
of which I cannot find.
So much to say,
so short a day;
I'm running out of time.
I hate to rush,
but wish so much
that I could make you mine.
Such perfect love
sent from Above,
embodied into thine.
My stolen heart
feels torn apart,
a theft that was no crime.
A joy so fierce I wish to cry.
I look at you and wonder, "why"?

That angels come from boxes was quite the thing to see;
I'd always thought they were assigned, to everyone but me.
As life's gone on I've wondered how others seemed to have,
A cherub on their shoulder to keep them from the bad.
Angels are protection from the thoughts that seem to plague,
The folks like me that walk alone through each & every day.
The day it finally happened, I almost didn't see,
My angel come from in the box to be assigned to me.
So now I'll keep her with me, & smile where once I frowned,
To know that I am not alone, & needn't feel so down.
My angel I can't look at, nor even reach & touch,
And though she lies beyond my reach, I'll love her just as much.

How can I speak what's in my heart,
when you turn a deaf ear to my speech?
How can I give to the one I love,
when you keep yourself just beyond reach?
My picture's no more in your locket,
I sense that it's been rearranged.
Yet my soul you keep in your pocket,
like more of the same loose change.
It isn't the same in my life anymore;
you saw to it that wouldn't be.
The lock that you put on your soul before,
has been changed since you gave me the key.
You said that we wanted the same things;
I wanted you, and you, me.
But now that the novelty's faded for you,
I guess it's all you, and not me.
